Feedback provided to us about the RESUS Student SIM Man sessions includes:

  • Increased confidence in my ability to treat critically ill patients
  • Well trained teachers who knew their stuff
  • Relevant scenarios & plenty of interaction
  • Great to get hands on and see how we would cope

  • Common scenarios covered which helped to increase my confidence in dealing with things I will encounter as an FY1

  • Good take home messages eg. Refer to protocols and call for help and follow ABCDE approach
  • Could be made slightly more realistic for example having a phone and actually making calls eg for crash team or to ask for advice – to get more familiar with using communication tools like SBAR

  • Seeing chest xray was a good idea and analysing ABGs

  • Liked the small group teaching usually only ever done SIM man with big groups
  • Inclusion of drug chart and obs chart was good
  • Range of scenarios was really good
  • It would be useful for the second person in the scenario to attach the monitoring etc
